Josh is a co-founder of the Firm. He practices in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, commercial litigation and creditors’ rights, with an emphasis on residential and commercial closings.
Mr. Katz serves as counsel to national financial institutions where he assists in the structuring and closing of real estate transactions involving office, retail, multi-family and mixed use projects. He also represents lenders in connection with the negotiation, documentation and financing of CMBS mortgage originations intended to be securitized, and represents institutional lenders in residential closings, loan workouts and real and personal property commercial foreclosure actions.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Katz spent several years as a bankruptcy attorney, representing debtors, creditors, and trustees in all phases of bankruptcy litigation.
Education and Admissions
Mr. Katz graduated from Emory University in 1998 with a dual degree in Political Science and Sociology. He graduated from Emory University School of Law in 2003. While in law school, Josh served as Associate Editor of the Emory Law Journal and was a judicial extern for the Honorable Paul W. Bonapfel, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Matthew David Durell

Matt is the other founder of the Firm whose practice is focused on real estate, litigation and intellectual property litigation involving a wide range of technologies, including local area network management and power line communications, Java acceleration hardware and software, smartphone application processor architecture and wireless controllers, Bluetooth and WiFi systems, digital image processing, medical devices, and consumer products. Prior to founding the Firm, Mr. Durell spent several years as an attorney in the Boston office of several international law firms.

Mr. Durell graduated from Emory University in 1997 with a degree in Chemistry. He graduated from Emory University School of Law in 2004.

Seth Katz is a civil litigator, assisting clients with business and employment disputes in state and federal courts nationwide. Seth is an experienced trial lawyer and has successfully tried cases in a wide-range of matters involving business torts, breach of contract and other business issues.
Seth also advises employers on workplace concerns including employee discipline, hiring and firing, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, trade secrets, business contracts, litigation avoidance, policy review and management training.
Seth served as Chairman of the Young Lawyers Division Business Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia from 2006-2010.
Education and Admissions
In 2006, Seth earned a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law. While in law school, he served as an intern for the National Labor Relations Board. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1998 from the University of Georgia.

Sid Holderness

Sid Holderness has extensive experience in commercial real estate with an emphasis on title insurance claims and litigation. His practice and representation of all major lenders for over thirty years gives Sid significant experience in title disputes, real estate litigation, creditors' rights, bankruptcy and negotiation of commercial purchase and sale agreements.
Education and Admissions
Sid graduated with honors from Atlanta Law School in 1974. Prior to joining Katz Durell, he was State Counsel and Vice President of Fidelity National Title Insurance Company. HIs responsibilities at Fidelity included underwriting all Fidelity title policies in Georgia, as well as managing claims litigation. Previously, Mr. Holderness was a partner with several law firms in Atlanta where he served as a closing attorney representing lenders and developers in all types of real estate transactions.

Craig Halperin
Senior Attorney

Craig Halperin is a senior attorney at Katz Durell, his practice is focused on real estate closings, investor deals, and entity formation. Craig has been handling real estate transactions for over 15 years. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was raised in Dunwoody. After graduating from North Springs High School, he conducted his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a B.A. in Business Economics.
Upon being awarded a scholarship, Craig went on to study at the University of Georgia, Hirsch School of Law, where he enrolled in a J.D./M.Ed. joint degree program. He received his J.D. in May of 2005 and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in October of 2005. After graduation from law school, Craig practiced corporate law until making a switch to the practice of real property law in early 2006.

Tamara Aulova
Senior Associate Attorney

Tamara is a senior associate attorney of the Firm. She practices in the areas of residential and commercial real estate. Her primary focus is closing real estate transactions which includes title/contract review, title curative, drafting closing documents, and overseeing the closing process from beginning to end. She is committed to working with buyers, sellers, agents and lenders to assure that the process is completed as accurately and smoothly as possible. She has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 2012 and is a member of the Real Estate Law Section. Away from the office, Tamara enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with her husband and kids.
